Current project:

YOGA IN UGANDA

Circle of Yoga finances yoga classes for the final year students at Imani School in Kampala, Uganda. Every Wednesday, the youngsters are taught by Ugandan yoga teacher Joy Christine Nakiwala.

The kids are not only strengthened by the benefits of practicing yoga, but also are encouraged to exchange ideas at the end of the class with healthy snacks and water.

In this setting, the students have space and time to discuss their sense of community and questions about how to deal with themselves and others.

Our yoga teacher presents a positive role model and mentor. Our Ugandan partner organization Art of a Child, which we trust since 2007, supports us in all matters on site.

With our fundraising campaign You like to give away books, we supported the Matatart mobile school bus with a selection of books that encourage and empower children and deal with topics such as diversity and a self-determined future.

The Matatart Bus brings education directly to children in the regions around Kampala that lack infrastructure and educational facilities. In these areas, the Matatart Bus provides access to literacy, art and music - areas that would otherwise be inaccessible to many of these children.

The stories in the books are a tool to encourage young people to go their own way and pursue their dreams.

By giving children access to inspiring literature, we help them to develop confidently and freely in a diverse world. We believe that stories have power - the power to open up new perspectives, show role models and empower children.
